Staff development refers to the various training and learning activities that help an employee learn, develop and enhance their performance. Training can happen either on-the-job or off-the-job.
The purpose of staff development is to improve the performance of an employee by building their skills and increasing their productivity. It can also help boost morale by giving employees a sense of pride in their work, as well as promoting career progression.
Staff development is different from employee development in that it focuses on building the skills required for a current job role, while employee development looks at how those skills can be applied to other roles within the organization.
